Next we took the MRT one stop to Raffles Place and made our way to change alley. With calculator and notepad in hand, we found the best rates for Thai Baht (22.95) and HKD (5.675). We got THB 10000, and HKD 1000, leaving us with SGD 60 or so. By this time it was around 1pm and time for a bite!
We found a food court beneath Raffles Place and grabbed some Mee Siam and Fried Wanton Noodles (dry). After chow time it was time to return to Simei. Jennifer met us at the MRT station and drove us back to Janet’s. We quickly packed and then Jennifer drove us to Harbourfront Vivo Shopping centre where our coach was departing from.
We said farewell to Jennifer and boarded our Aeroline Plus Coach to Petaling Jaya at 4pm. It took 30mins to reach the border and another 30mins to go through immigration on both sides. The usual afternoon downpour began and here we are on the highway to PJ!
So what are my thoughts on our time in Singapore after 4 nights and 4 days? Great all in all! Having seen most of the sights on my last trip here in 2006, we mostly slept, overate, and did a spot of shopping. The food I have to say is still not as authentic as Malaysia’s and more pricey. However I loved the clean environment and efficient MRT. The shopping was ok but I guess it isn’t sale time at the moment. The waterpark was just to my liking and I must say, the weather wasn’t as hot and humid as I remember. It was a real pleasure meeting Di’s relatives Jennifer, Janet, Aunties Ge Bor, Ge Mite, and Lynn.
The coach trip to PJ wasn’t too bad. Two movies were screened - Training Day and Transformers which helped pass the time. They also served us a meal of Nasi Lemak, fruit, and tea. We arrived in PJ at 9pm near the Menara Axis Hotel I think, and were immediately greeted by Di’s Aunty Jenny and dad. They brought us to a mamak store for dinner - we had tissue roti, nasi lemak (the real deal!), and sotong/curry chicken with rice.
