Singapore Chilli Crab!

Woke up late and did some washing at Janet’s house. Mental note, check ALL of Ben’s pockets before putting a load to wash. Yes, that’s right, our clothes came out dirtier than it had been before it went in because small bits of tissue were distributed to all sections of our clothing.

Breakfast/morning tea/lunch was a $108 set menu at Long Beach Seafood Restaurant located in Singapore’s Eastcoast parkway. Our stomachs were grumbling and we were enjoying the feeling of being hungry for a change. It is highly recommended to put your stomach in this state but hard to do when you’re in Singapore! On the menu was:
1) Scallops in fried yam
2) Sambal Cuttle Fish and Kang Kong
3) Special roast chicken
4) White bait rice,
5) Chilli Crab, and
6) Almond jelly with longan for dessert.

We managed to get through everything except for the rice and chicken. Ben wants me to write that the crab was firm, the sauce sweet. The chicken appeared dry but was in fact quite moist. My favourite was probably the Kang Kong. With our bellies full, we went to the Pasir Ris Wild Wild Wet which is a small water theme park.

At Wild wild wet we first jumped into the Shiok river which circled the other rides. We found ourselves some donuts which took us some time to master. I kept falling backwards and sidewards while jumping on them! We then tried the rides. In my opinion, they were quite tame. The first was a slide where you jump into large round rafts which take you down. The second, a dark tunnel which was probably the longest of the three. Then there was the open slide. To my surprise, these are the types of rides that are at Ben’s adrenalin limit. I thought they were very tame.

After much pleading and dragging, we went on the ride called the ‘Slide up’. It involved a figure eight tube which we sat on facing each other while holding on as hard as we could. Then, starting on top, if you imagine a half pipe that you find at a skate park, we flew down one side and were on the other side. Ben’s face was priceless. As soon as I saw it, I couldn’t stop laughing! His eyes were closed and you could tell he was really not enjoying the thrill of falling at such a fast rate. You could almost hear his thoughts, ‘why am I doing this?!’

You may not be surprised, but I didn’t manage to get him to go on this ride again.

Next we hit the wave pool (Tsunami).

After one more round of the Shiok River, we decided to head out and grab a drink and dessert. Durian Chendol and Iced tea were on the menu. So good.

Jennifer picked us up and we headed over to Ge Bor’s house for her famous chicken rice. We ate so much that Ben was feeling nauseous and we had to wait a few moments before we drove back to Jennifer’s place. I also go my durian hit, yum! It was nice chatting to my uncle and seeing my aunt again. My Aunt was very happy that we enjoyed her food so much.

All in all, a pretty cruisy day, and I think just what we needed :P.
